Rocky Cyn Ranch
In our commitment to producing top- quality Rhodesian Ridgebacks, we introduce our Guardian Home program. This unique opportunity allows selected families to welcome a pick-of-the-litter puppy into their loving home at a nominal price. We carefully choose homes that align with our values and standards, envisioning a lasting partnership in the journey of responsible breeding. Upon placement, your new furry family member will become an integral part of your household, sharing in the joys of everyday life until they reach the appropriate age for breeding. Once the breeding phase is complete, our beloved pup returns to your home for good, becoming a cherished member of your family forever.
Rocky Cyn Rd in Atascadero, California was a cherished part of my childhood, sparking dreams of owning a ranch. Sharing this dream with my wife Kelly, we searched for the perfect land in Southern CA. On one visit to my hometown, We noticed a rare for-sale sign on Rocky Cyn Rd. We quickly sold possessions with support from the Humphrey family, finally acquiring the ranch. Our dream is to enjoy its beauty, create memories with our boys, and inspire others to pursue their dreams in this tranquil space.

The Rhodesian Ridgeback, a distinctive and noble breed, originates from Southern Africa, specifically Zimbabwe, formerly known as Rhodesia. The breed's history can be traced back to the indigenous Khoikhoi people's dogs, who interbred with European breeds brought by Dutch and Portuguese settlers in the 16th and 17th centuries. However, it was in Rhodesia during the late 19th and early 20th centuries that the breed was refined for its hunting and tracking abilities, particularly in pursuing lions.
The breed's defining feature, the "ridge" along its back formed by a distinctive line of hair that grows in the opposite direction to the rest of the coat, sets it apart. Known for their loyalty, intelligence, and strength, Rhodesian Ridgebacks continue to be cherished as both devoted companions and formidable working dogs.
Caring for a Rhodesian Ridgeback involves regular exercise, like daily walks, runs, or playtime. Grooming is simple due to their short coat, requiring regular brushing. Early socialization and obedience training are essential for their well-rounded development. Spending quality time with them is crucial, given their loyalty and affectionate nature. Providing a balanced diet, regular vet check-ups, and monitoring dental health contribute to their overall well-being. Given their sensitivity to heat, ensuring shade and water availability in warmer climates is important.
